History & Specifications

The name of the bicycle shop Goldia derives from the village Goldach in Switzerland, located at lake Constance.

The bicycles sold by Hans Müller were typically painted in gold metallic fading to white and blue. It is unknown if this frameset was built by Müller himself. I have seen a Tebag racing bike with exactly the same embossed letter codes in the seat lug. Probably this frameset was built by the Tebag factory at Ebnat-Kappel in the district of Toggenburg. Also the use of the “Spezial” decal on the fork blades was traced back to the painter and pinstripping professional living in Ebnat-Kappel. He worked for the Tebag factory in the 1950s and 60s and had some extra Spezial decals left in his box when I visited him some years ago.

The bicycle is set up with Campagnolo Gran Sport and Record components, the crankset is from Durax, a french company, the chainwheels are from Simplex. The brakes are from Weinmann, the rims from  Duralca and Fiamme, the saddle is an Idéal. The Goldia Spezial was left as found, except a careful cleaning and the necessary replacement of the tubulars.

This Goldia Spezial racing bicycle is presented in the premium book «kick into next gear» in great detail.
