Pogliaghi Classico, 1997, Italy
History & Specifications
Sante Pogliaghi was one of the most fameous frame builder at Milan and started building bicycles in 1947. He was a specialist for racing, track, track tandems and steher bicylces. Until the end of the 1980s he built frame sets and stamped them with “PSM”.
Around 1983-84 Pogliaghi handed over his brand name to the framebuilder Rossin, but later Pogliaghi authorized the brother Basso to bear his name on their framesets.
This Pogliaghi Classico from 1997 is from the Basso aera. In the same year Campagnolo brought their first 9-speed Record and Chorus groupsets on the marked. The Pogliaghi is equipped with a complete Campagnolo Chorus groupset. A very classic italian racing bike. The bike could also upgraded with a 11s drive train.
The Pogliaghi is in good used condidition with some small paint chips at the top tube and seat stays that have been touched up. Replaced were the chlinchers and inner tubes, brake pads, the Concor saddle, Campagnolo Chorus click pedals and seat post. Costly was the the overhaul of the rear hub including the replacement of the industrial bearing in the freewheel body.
Today only the frame set is available on the Basso online shop for € 1960, a stem for € 122.
Regarding these prices, it would even make sense to give this frame a new professional respray and a set of new decals.
