In the year 1948 Pietro Del Po opened at Jägerstrasse next to the Swiss military barraks his first bicycle and framebuilding shop. In 1951 he moved his shop a few blocks to patio of the Militärstrasse 81 in Zurich 4. Like all the framebuilder and bicycle shop owner in Zurich Del Po had his unique paint scheme for all his bicycles.
This rare Del Po Speciale is built with Reynolds 531 frame tubes including a complete set of Nervex Professional lugs. The lavishly paint job is top level. It was executed by a real artist of his profession, Signore Quadri, an Italian. A multilayer enamel, basecoat, silver metallic, blue translucent fading to gold metallic and clear coat, white pinstriping and lug lining. Best components from Campagnolo Gran Sport derailleurs and shifters, Fratellli Brivio high flange hubs, 28 holes rims, binded and soldered spokes, chrome plated Cinelli stem and handlebars, a Brooks B17 saddle complete this outstanding Swiss racing bicycle.
