History & Specifications

Cilo was founded 1916 in Switzerland in the city Lausanne-Oron at Lake Geneva. The name Cilo is an acronym for Charles Jan Lausanne Oron. After WW2 they had their professionals like the fameous Hans Knecht (world champion 1946) and the KK (Fredy Kübler and Hugo Koblet), both Tour de France winners. From 1980 to 1986 they had the Cilo-Aufina professional team with well known riders like Beat Breu, Daniel Gisiger and Tony Rominger.

The equipment is a typical mix found on many Swiss bicycles during the 1950s-60s. The Cilo rolls on a pair of 1963 Campagnolo Record hubs, Weinmann World Champion rims and Continental Giro tubulars. Stronglight Mod. 54 crankset, Lyotard Course light alloy pedals, 4-speed Regina Oro freewheel. Brooks B17 Champion Standard saddle and a pair of Bluemels fenders complete the bike.

This Cilo is serviced, carefully cleaned, the fork and headset was disassembled, cleaned and regreased, seat post removed, seat tube cleaned and regreased, brakeset and derailleurs carefully cleaned and the hubs were disassembled, the bearings cleaned and regreased. 3 sprockets of the 4-speed freewheel were renewed with NOS parts and the chain was replaced.
