History & Specifications

The Allegro bicycle company was one of the five most known in Switzerland. Founded in 1914 by Arnold Grandjean, himself a successful professional and a great enthusiast for the bicycle races. He developed and improved his racing bicycles constantly. Between 1915 and 1916 he won severeal races and became elite Swiss Champion in cyclocross. This Allegro Special was completely disassembled, cleanded and assembled. Beside the wheels that were rebuilt with new DT stainless spokes the toe leather straps and the handlebar tape were renewed. The 52/42 chainwheels requested a better rear derailleur than the first generation Campagnolo Record, so it was replaced by a Campagnolo Nuovo Record. Equipped with Campagnolo Record high flange hubs, Campagnolo Record bar end shifters, front and rear derailleur and seatpost. Other parts are a Stronglight 63 Super Competition crankset, Weinmann Vainqueur 999 brakes, a Brooks B17 leather saddle, a Pivo stem and Weinmann World Champion rims.

This Allegro Special racing bicycle is presented in the premium book «kick into next gear» in great detail.
