History & Specifications

1972 opened Ben Serotta in New York his first shop and his frame production. It was very closed to his heart to improve the quality of his frames consequently and to focus on details. For Serotta a high quality frame was also precision craftmanship. Tight tolerances in cutting length and precise mittering angles together with carefully prepared lugs are the basics for a perfect frame. All brazing spots are carefully worked as a base for a perfect high quality paint. The beauty of a Serotta frame is also tributed to a 9 layer paint job.

Since 1992 only “Colorado Concept Design” multi butted tube sets according to Serotta specifications  manufactured by top manufacturers like Columbus or Tange are used for the frames.

This Serotta Colorado Legend CR from 1993 was factory set up with a Shimano 600 Ultegra STI group. The only exception is a headset from Mavic. The paint scheme is typically for the early 1990s, fluorescent colors in yellow or magenta.

Beside a test ride this Serotta is in excellent condition. Very few blemishes in the paint mainly from storage or moving the bicycle. In the 1994 Serotta catalogue is mentioned that fluorescent pigments tend to bleach over the years of use.

This Serotta Colorado Legend CR racing bicycle is presented in the premium book «kick into next gear» in great detail.
