Cilo 753 Ciusani 3, custom frame, 1983, Switzerland
History & Specifications
Giovanni Ciusani, born in Italy in 1923, was a professional cyclist and rode for the Bianchi team in 1948. It’s quite possible that he made his first contacts with Cilo at that time, as Cilo’s team was competing in the Giro d’Italia. I do not know when Ciusani emigrated to Switzerland and began working for Cilo in Lausanne. In 1983 and 1984, Ciusani built the professional racing bikes for the Cilo Aufina team. The riders received two racing bikes each, one built with Reynolds 531 tubing and one with Reynolds 753 tubing. In 1985 and 1986, Giovanni Ciusani served as team manager of the Cilo Aufina team. In addition to the team road bikes, Ciusani also built custom frames for Cilo customers.
This custom bike was built for a customer in Fribourg and fitted by the Schöni bike shop in Fribourg. In its original condition, it was equipped with gray Mavic SSC wheels and a Concor Profil saddle. The wheels and saddle were replaced to reduce weight but have been preserved.
The road bike is equipped with a complete Campagnolo Super Record groupset featuring a 2×7-speed drivetrain and titanium pedal axles. It is fitted with Collé 700x23C tires.
The bike is very well-maintained and in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition.
Frame size: seat tube 58 cm (center-to-top), top tube length 58 cm (center-to-center), weight 8.4 kg
